Share
There’s nothing better than a perfectly seasoned steak sizzling on the grill. Today, we’re sharing a foolproof recipe that uses two of P&L Steaks Grilling Supply’s signature seasonings: Texas Black SPG as a flavorful base layer and Red River Beef Rub as the bold finishing touch. Let’s fire up the grill!
Ingredients
• 2 thick-cut steaks (ribeye, strip, or filet mignon work best)
• 1 tablespoon Texas Black SPG seasoning
• 1 tablespoon Red River Beef Rub seasoning
• 1–2 tablespoons olive oil (optional)
Equipment Needed
• Grill or cast-iron skillet
• Meat thermometer
• Tongs
Instructions
1. Prepare the Steak
1. Remove the steaks from the fridge and let them come to room temperature for 30 minutes.
2. Pat the steaks dry with a paper towel to ensure a good sear.
2. Season with Texas Black SPG
1. Lightly coat the steaks with olive oil (optional) to help the seasoning stick.
2. Generously sprinkle Texas Black SPG all over the steaks, ensuring even coverage.
3. Gently press the seasoning into the meat with your hands.
3. Add the Red River Beef Rub
1. Layer the steaks with Red River Beef Rub as a topcoat. This rub adds depth and enhances the Texas Black SPG flavor.
2. Let the steaks rest for 5–10 minutes to allow the seasonings to absorb.
4. Fire Up the Grill
1. Preheat your grill to high heat (450–500°F). For cast iron, heat the skillet over medium-high heat until it’s smoking hot.
2. Sear the steaks for 2–3 minutes per side to create a beautiful crust.
5. Cook to Desired Doneness
1. Move the steaks to indirect heat (if using a grill) or reduce the skillet heat to medium.
2. Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness:
• Rare: 125°F
• Medium-Rare: 135°F
• Medium: 145°F
• Well-Done: 160°F
3. Once the steaks reach your desired temperature, remove them from the heat.
6. Rest and Serve
1. Let the steaks rest for 5–10 minutes to retain juices.
2. Slice against the grain and enjoy the rich, layered flavors of Texas Black SPG and Red River Beef Rub.
Tips for Success
• Choose the Right Cut: Ribeye is ideal for its marbling, but this seasoning combo works beautifully on any cut.
• Don’t Overcrowd: Leave space between steaks on the grill for even cooking.
• Experiment with Layers: Try this combo on burgers, roasts, or brisket for even more flavor options.
